How to set up a Bosch DX4020 network interface module to communicate with Lenel OnGuard software

Procedure Steps

1) You must first configure the DX4020 by setting DIP switches 1, 2, 3, and 4 to the OFF position (down), and DIP switches 5, 6, 7, and 8 to the ON position (up).

2) Open the command prompt:
- Click the Start button, and then select Run.
- In the dialog box, type CMD, and then press the Enter key.

3) Initiate an ARP command by typing the following:

arp -s XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ

Notes:

XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX = This is the IP address you are setting for this device.
ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ = This is the MAC address of the DX4020 you are using.

The command should look something like this:

arp -s 192.168.10.1 00-20-4a-21-04-0c

4) Type the following command to display a table stating that the IP assignment has completed successfully:

arp -g

5) Initiate a TELNET command by typing the following (X = IP Address 1=Port):

telnet XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX 1

6) This will cause a failure. Continue by typing the following command (X = IP Address 9999=Port):

telnet XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX 9999

Note: Press the Enter key when the message "Press Enter to go into setup mode" is displayed.

7) Press <1> to enter the channel one (1) settings.

8) You must select all of the following data to match within this channel:
- Baudrate: 9600
- I/F Mode: 4C
- Flow: 00
- Port: 3001
- Connection Mode: C0

9) Save these settings.

10) Log out of TELNET.

At this point, it is recommended that both the Bosch panel and the DX4020 network interface module be powered off, then on, to reset them.

Your Bosch DX4020 is now ready to communicate with the OnGuard software.
